Trying to Get a Ticket
Securing a ticket to the Glastonbury Festival is an endeavor that requires preparation, patience, and a bit of luck. The ticket release schedule typically includes several phases, starting with a pre-registration period. This is a critical step, as only registered individuals can participate in the ticket sales. Make sure to complete this process well in advance, providing accurate information and a recent photograph.
The initial ticket sale usually occurs in early October, with a follow-up resale in April for any returned tickets. Both events are highly competitive, so being well-prepared is essential. On the day of the ticket release, ensure you have a reliable internet connection and set up multiple devices to increase your chances. Collaborating with friends can also be beneficial; have everyone attempt to secure tickets simultaneously and agree to purchase for each other if successful.
Timing is crucial, as tickets often sell out within minutes. If you’re lucky enough to get through you will pay £75 deposit per ticket which needs to be paid upfront. Shortly after this everyone will receive a confirmation link individually to them. You will be informed of a week, usually the first week of April, where you need to login and pay the remainder of your balance. Additionally, the Worthy View car park, located in a nearby field, offers easy access to the accommodation, making your festival adventure even more enjoyable.
Sticklinch: This is Glastonbury’s new addition similar to the Worthy View campsite area. Nestled just a stone’s throw away from the main festival site, Sticklinch offers bespoke, pre-set festival accommodations designed for those seeking a hassle-free experience upon arrival. Tents already set up to allow guests to simply unpack their bags and dive into the festivities. At Sticklinch, a variety of cozy Podpads, Yurts, Bell Tents, and the iconic scout-style tents await guests, promising diverse and charming lodging options. Situated on a gently sloping terrain, Sticklinch provides a more leisurely stroll to the festival site, catering to those who prefer a less strenuous journey compared to the uphill trek to Worthy View. While parking options are available nearby, including designated spaces for Blue Badge holders, its encouraged that Sticklinch guests to consider using public transportation whenever possible.
Staying in nearby hotels is another viable option, especially for festival-goers who prioritise comfort and a good night’s sleep. Several hotels and bed-and-breakfasts are located within a short distance from the festival grounds. While this option can be more expensive, it offers the benefit of a private bathroom, a comfortable bed, and a quiet environment to recharge for the next day’s events.Just ensure you make your booking well in advance as these sell out fairly quick once tickets have been purchased.

From London Heathrow, you need to first travel to London Paddington Station, then catch a train to Castle Cary, followed by a shuttle bus to the festival site. This route can take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Booking tickets in advance is advisable to secure the best rates and ensure availability.
Shuttle Services
Dedicated shuttle services operate during the festival season, providing a convenient door-to-door experience. These shuttles run from key locations like Bristol Airport and major cities. They are slightly more expensive than public transport but offer the advantage of a direct transfer to the festival grounds, with travel time from Bristol being around 1.5 hours and from London Heathrow around 3 hours.

The drive from Bristol to Glastonbury takes about 1 hour, while from London Heathrow, it can be around 2.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. What To Pack For The Festival
Sure, here is the list rearranged after the first 6 points:
- Personal ID: Original ID documents (not photocopies) are needed for: Hospitality tickets, Challenge 21, Lead Booker for coach packages, Sunday tickets
- – Photocopy of ID is okay if a child is under 12 but looks older
- Driving licence (ideally with up to date address, so it – and anything with it – can be posted back to you if lost)
- Money/cards
- Mobile phone + battery pack. You can also hire a Vodafone battery pack – simply collect on site at the Vodafone Connect & Charge and exchange daily for a freshly charged one.
- Festival ticket
- Travel tickets if coming by coach / train
- Ear plugs: to keep your ears from ringing and to help you catch a bit of sleep!
- A reusable water bottle, to fill up from the free taps on site
- Sturdy tent and all its relevant components (lines/poles/groundsheet/pegs).
- Sleeping mat/sleeping bag/duvet/pillow
- Wellies or sturdy boots. Recommend to wear walking boots for extra comfort as you will walk miles each day and be on your feed for the majority
- Waterproof coat and over trousers

- Medium size rucksack for carrying your drinks and waterproofs around the festival. Chances are, you will end up a good distance from your tent/accommodation, so it’s recommended to take some items out with you to save a journey back to your tent.

When To Arrive
When it comes to getting to Glastonbury, transportation options are limited due to the absence of a train station in the town. The closest station, Castle Cary, offers a convenient solution for festival-goers. A free shuttle bus service is available for ticket holders, connecting Castle Cary Station to the Festival Bus Station, providing a seamless journey during the Festival.
For those traveling by car, a practical strategy is to arrange a meeting point at a near by service station. Look at your desired route to the festival from where you are travelling from and see which service station would be th most ideal to meet. This meeting point is ideal for groups arriving from various parts of the UK, allowing them to gather before heading to the festival site. This not only provides a chance for a quick break and the opportunity to grab some snacks, but also allows for coordinated travel to ensure that vehicles are parked in close proximity to each other. Additionally, this is the perfect moment to affix your car parking sticker if you have not done so already.
If your taking your own tent its recommended to arrive as early as possible. This will give you the best opportunity to camp in the area you want. But, when doing so expect to be in big question waiting to enter the festival.
Those staying in pre-set up tents in Worthy View or Sticklinch have the opportunity to arrive later in the festival if they prefer as they don’t need to rush to set up in a preferred area. Arriving later (Thursday morning) also reduces the likelihood of getting caught up in traffic jams on route to the festival.
Where To Camp In The Festival
Navigating the journey to and from the car park can be quite a trek, so it might be wise to plan for multiple trips instead of attempting it all at once! I wouldn’t say that one camp site is better to stay than another, as it completely relies on what you’re looking for in relation to your preferences and the experience you want to have. Some people prefer to camp by the Pyramid stage, others want to look for a quieter area or some may want to camp closer for where they feel they will end up at the end of the night to have a reduced walk back to their tent.
Ive been lucky enough to attend Glastonbury on 5 different occasions. Stayed in Worthy view, set up my own tent on numerous occasions and also stayed in a camper van so iv experienced many different accommodation types.
It’s important to note that due to the music playing until 6 am from Friday to Sunday, finding a completely quiet camping spot may be challenging. To optimise your camping experience, it’s recommended to plan ahead by utilising the festival map and identifying the nearest gate for entry. The official app offers a live map feature to assist with tracking your location, and using tent flags or other markers can be helpful in locating your tent within the campsite.
During my first Glastonbury we decided to stay near the pyramid stage. Between the group we parked in car park Purple and Blue and entered through gates B or C. This was because we arrived at different times.
This location was recommended to us as its not to far to walk to the pyramid stage and of a night it gets quite once the pyramid stage finishes. The only downside was, we would finish the night in the dance area which meant, at the end of the night we have a big trek back to the tent which was tiring.
Throughout our stay, we discovered that almost all campsites provided convenient access to food and drink options, restroom facilities, water points, a secure storage area, and around-the-clock assistance from stewards.
Worthy View
My favourite place to stay at Glastonbury has to be WorthyView. Staying here comes with a multitude of benefits that can enhance your festival experience. If you have experiences Glastonbury before you will understand when I say that first day is tiring when you have to arrive early on the Wednesday to make sure you get a good camping spot. One of the main benefits of staying in worthy view for me was, you could arrive when you wanted to arrive due to you already having a tent set up waiting for you.
The location of Worthy View is just a short walk from the main festival grounds, allowing for easy access to the festival. You can conveniently return to your accommodation for a quick rest or to freshen up, ensuring you’re always ready to get back involved when you want too. Some people say the walk back to worthy view is a trek up a steep hill. Yes, there is a hill but in my opinion its not to intense and its definitely worth the small hike up the hill to stay within Worthy View.
If you go on the website you will see there are a number of different accommodation options for you to stay in which is all down to group size and personal preference. Within Worthy View you are provided access to shared facilities such as bathrooms, showers, and communal dining areas. This can lead to a more comfortable experience compared to traditional camping, as well as opportunities to socialise with fellow festival-goers. The toilet facilities are regularly cleaned and you will find some of the cleanest toilets here. Those who have been to the festival before will have experienced some of the other toilet facilities at the festival… long drops… so you do appreciate the cleanliness of worthy view.
With more comfortable sleeping arrangements than standard camping, you can enjoy a better night’s sleep. Arriving at the festival well-rested can make a significant difference in your energy levels and overall enjoyment throughout the event.
Staying at Worthy View also provides an added layer of safety and security. With organised accommodation, you can feel more secure in your surroundings, allowing you to relax and enjoy the festival without worry.
If you anticipate making multiple trips to your car, remember that both your wristband and ticket are essential for re-entry. Upon exiting, you’ll receive a pass out, and when returning, be sure to have these three items in hand to facilitate a smooth re-entry process.
